Ingredients

Serves 6:

  • 3 1/2 oz butter

  • 3 1/2 oz sugar

  • 3 Royal Gala apples

  • 3 Golden apples

  • Juice of 1 lemon

  • 8 1/2 oz puff pastry dough (refer recipe)


Method:

  1. Grease an 8 2/3 inch (22 cm) pie pan. Dust with sugar.

  2. Preheat the oven to 350°F/180°C.

  3. Core the apples with an apple corer and peel and quarter them. Arrange the apples in a pie pan in a crown like fashion, rounded sides down, and sprinkle with lemon juice. Brown the apples over high heat for about 1 min.

  4. Roll out the dough and shape in a 9 1/2 inch (24 cm) circle, about 1/8 inch (3mm) thick. Cover with apples, tucking in the sides. Bake for about 30 min.

  5. Turnout upside down by placing a serving dish over the pan and turning over quickly.
