Party Cookie Recipes - Church Window Cookies Recipe
Ingredients
1 1/4 cups/180
g all purpose/plain flour
1/3
cup/50 g
confectioners'/icing sugar
1/8 tsp salt
1/2 cup/125 g butter,
softened
1 tbsp
heavy/double
cream
1/2 tsp
vanilla extract/essence
25 lightly
crushed hard
candies, mixed colors
Method:
Stir together the
confectioners' sugar, flour, salt, butter, cream,
and vanilla in a large bowl to form a smooth dough.
Press into a disk, cover with plastic wrap and
refrigerate for 30 minutes.
Preheat the oven to
400°F/200°C/gas 6. Line two cookie sheets with
parchment paper.
Roll out the dough on a lightly
floured surface to a thickness of 1/8 inch (3 mm).
Use Christmas
shaped cookie cutters, such as holly,
stars, and snowmen, to cut out the cookies.
Continue
cutting out cookies until all the dough is used. Use
a spatula to transfer the cookies to the prepared
cookie sheets, placing them 1 inch (2.5 cm) apart.
Use a sharp knife to cut a small hole in each
cookie. Place a candy piece in each hole.
Bake for
5-7 minutes, or until the cookies are lightly
browned and the candies have melted. Let cool
completely.
