Cookies Recipes - Old-Fashioned Tea Cakes Recipe

Ingredients              

• 3 1/4 cups flour

• 1 tsp baking soda

• 1/2 tsp salt

• 1 cup sugar

• 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, softened

• 1 egg, beaten

• 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla

• 1/2 cup sour cream

Method:

1. Instructions for jar: Sift flour, baking soda, salt and sugar.

2. Spoon mixture into 1 liter jar.

3. For baking: Preheat oven to 350(176C).

4. In large bowl, combine butter, egg and vanilla. Beat on medium speed for 2 minutes. Stir in sour cream.

5. Slowly add dry ingredients from jar into sour cream mixture and stir well after each addition.

6. On lightly floured surface, roll dough to 1/4-inch (.6 cm) thickness. Cut cookies with floured cookie cutter and place on sprayed baking sheet.

7. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes. Remove from oven before cookies become too brown.
