Cakes and Pastries Recipes - Apple and Raisin Strudel Recipe

Ingredients

Serves 6:

  • 9 1/2 oz flour

  • 1 egg yolk

  • 1 pinch of salt

  • 4 tbsp sunflower oil

  • 1/3 oz butter

Filling:

  • 3 1/41bs Royal Gala apples

  • 3 1/2 oz raisins

  • 3 tbsp sugar

  • 1 pinch cinnamon

  • 4 tbsp bread crumbs


Method:

  1. Combine 250 g of flour, the yolk, salt, oil, and about6f1 oz (180 ml) of water. Knead well, until the dough is firm and elastic.  Shape into a ball. Allow to chill in the refrigerator for 1 - 2 h.

  2. During this time, prepare the filling: peel and core the apples. Cui each apple into 12 slices.

  3. Roll  out the dough in a thin layer on a dish towel. Cover with apple slices. Add the raisins, sugar, cinnamon, and bread crumbs.

  4. Preheat the oven to 410°F/210°C.

  5. Take the cloth by its ends. Fold it over and then roll up the strudel. Place the strudel on a greased baking sheet. Bake for about 50 min.
