Oatmeal Bread Recipe

 

Ingredients

 

Makes one 1 1/2 pound loaf (16 slices)

  • 1 cup quick-cooking rolled oats

  • 2/3 cup milk

  • 1/3 cup water

  • 1 tablespoon butter, margarine, or shortening

  • 2 1/2 cups bread flour

  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar

  • 3/4 teaspoon salt

  • 1 teaspoon active dry yeast or bread machine yeast


Method:

  1. Spread the oats in a shallow baking pan. Bake in a 350°C oven for 15 to 20 minutes or until light brown, stirring occasionally. Cool.

  2. Add all of the ingredients to the bread  machine according to the manufacturer's  directions, adding the oats with the flour.

  3. Bake bread using the whole-grain cycle or the basic white bread cycle.
